The Directors of MART, Ciara Scanlan and Matthew Nevin, are proud to present Grains of Colour, a curated selection of artwork from visual artists producing work at The MART Studios Grainstore, Cabinteely Park.

This exhibition serves as both a celebration of artistic expression and a thoughtful inquiry into the role of art in shaping individual and collective identities — locally and globally. Artists in the studios produce in a diverse range of mediums including painting, sculpture, music, printmaking, drawing, illustration, digital art, photography, film, and performance.

Grains of Colour provides a vital platform for our studio members to exhibit their works publicly, engage with wider audiences, and enhance their visibility within the cultural landscape. Through this showcase, MART is delighted to highlight the breadth of talent within our studio community and support each artist in developing their professional careers and opportunities to market and sell their work.

The MART Studios at The Grainstore is kindly supported by Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council Arts Office and The Arts Council of Ireland.

About the Artists

Emma Dowling is a self taught Irish contemporary artist. Her work contains expressive abstract layers of colour and form. Her paintings are inspired by nature, sacred sounds, mood and possibility. She paints mostly in oil and acrylics. www.instagram.com/emmadowling_art

Maura Culbert began her journey in the art and design industry almost two decades ago. Maura’s initial introduction to art was through interior design, which she has had a huge passion for from a very young age. While studying interior design she then discovered art (painting in particular). This led her to complete a BA Hons degree in fine art. For Maura design and art went hand in hand. This is clear from her wealth of knowledge in colour. Soon after the completion of her degree Maura had a number of successful exhibitions located in Galleries and restaurants around Ireland. While pursuing her love of creating art Maura then started her business as an interior designer based in her hometown of Waterford Ireland. www.mauraculbertart.com

Deirdre Hayes is an award-winning plein air artist and studio oil painter based in Dublin, Ireland. She creates serene, atmospheric landscapes and cityscapes, along with timeless portraits and still lifes. Her work reflects the unique light of each scene and evokes a strong sense of place, drawing inspiration from the beauty of the Irish landscape and her local surroundings. Siobhan Heraty is a contemporary artist, based in Cabinteely, Co. Dublin, where she creates paintings which evoke a sense of space, freedom and possibility. “Sea and sky are always an inspiration, whether calm and clear or wild and moody – I love how their ever-changing constancy feeds the soul in some way and provides a place for the mind to rest or wander awhile.”  www.siobhanheratyart.com

Louise’s work can be found in many Private and Public collections including, Bank of Ireland, The O.P.W, Department of Defence, The Flynn Hotel Group, The Haddington Hotel Dublin The Blackrock Clinic, Irish Credit Union, and in the Private Collections of many. Her Coastal landscapes came about through residencies on Clare Island, The Cill Rialaig Project in Co Kerry, also time spent in Connemara and West Clare. She has also be a regular residency artist at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre. Her Coastal scenes are of The Wild Atlantic Way, an area of great interest and significance to the artist. Her work shows assured use of texture and mark making with a concentration on surface. Louise Newman is interested in the hidden narrative that can exist in an image and her interpretation of that. She paints with increasing skill and assurance, suggesting things like weather, atmosphere, mood and a rhythm that always lingers on the surface of her paintings.” www.louisenewman.com
